The Mekong is Vietnam’s richest agricultural region. The area offers an abundance of fresh fruits, flowers, and rice to name a few. Vietnam’s “rice bowl” is also home to many handicraft workers that you will be able to meet along the way. Our team will take you from village to village taking a few boats along the way. We will also visit with local artisans, to give you a deeper understanding of Vietnamese life on the river. Enjoy the best of the Mekong Delta for 4 days with Mr Biker Saigon for a total of 230 km.In those 4 days, you will get the opportunity to visit the Kingdom of Coconut: Ben Tre; board on local sampans boats on the Co Chien River; discover Khmer architecture and culture; enjoy the famous city of Can Tho; explore a local floating market and for your last day, take a speed-boat to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Mr Biker Saigon or your hotel
It will be hot. If you have never been to SE Asia, expect to sweat. A lot. So dress accordingly!
We will provide water and snacks, but we recommend bringing your own water bottles to reduce plastic bottle usage.
We also recommend bringing your own bike, helmet, gloves, or anything else that will make your ride more comfortable. However, we do provide all of these stated.
Pick up at your hotel at 7am in Ho Chi Minh City followed by a quick transfer to the Mekong, approximately 2 hours. You will board on a local ferry to get to Ben Tre, known for being the kingdom of Coconut and nursery gardens.
Back on your bikes, you will witness colourful scenes along the riverside while pedalling past charming delta homes and villages with coconut at the core of their economy. We will board on a ferry for a refreshing boat trip across the wide Co Chien River.
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant around Ben Tre, before cycling through the most famous water coconut trails and ending with a ferry crossing from the main arm of the Mekong River to Tra Vinh town where you will spend the night in the city centre.
You will start the day at 7am and will visit an area mostly populated by Khmer people, one of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. A short ride to Ba Om Pond will be taken to see its famous seasonal lotus flower and this area will offer you a glimpse of the Khmer architecture, especially the ethnic group’s temples which are sites to see while in the region.
Cycle as much as you wish for the rest of the day through the peaceful countryside paths. You will have lunch in the Cau Ke district and will have a short transfer to escape the busy road to Can Tho city. You will stay overnight in Can Tho. Don’t miss out on its well-known night markets!
After breakfast, time for more adventures! The excursion will be divided into two parts: the morning on water and the afternoon on land.
We will take a boat to head towards the famous Cai Rang floating market, crossing a narrow, asphalted road where many canals were used to transport boats during the Vietnam war. In the afternoon, we will continue cycling along small roads before getting transferred (2h) to Chau Doc.
Chau Doc is known for its floating villages and for its multi-cultural identities combining the Vietnamese, Cham, Khmer and Chinese communities as well as mosques, temples and churches.
For this last day your legs will get a well-deserved rest. You will check out of your accommodation and have breakfast at 6:30am, you will then board on a comfortable speed boat heading to Cambodia at 6:45am.
You will say goodbye to our team before boarding.
The ride will take about 4 hours and 30 minutes where you will be able to enjoy some snacks. Visa at the border will be arranged by the crew. Please prepare 2x ID photos (with a white background) as well as 35 USD in cash for the border (must be undamaged, no writing on them or torn or taped edges). Enjoy the rest of your travels in Cambodia.
