Cycle & Savor: A Farm‑to‑Table Mekong Delta Cycling Tour

What makes this tour special?

Scenic cycling & friendly encounters

After an early morning pick‑up from the Saigon Opera House, you’ll travel south by van to a countryside café. Our guides will adjust your bike and brief you on the day ahead.  The first part of the ride is an easy‑graded 40 km pedal along elevated dirt paths through rice paddies and coconut groves . You’ll pass traditional houses and wave at friendly farmers tending their fields . When you need a break, we stop at a local river overpass for fresh fruit and cool drinks before continuing on shaded country roads . The ride is supported by a van for anyone who needs to rest, so it’s suitable for recreational cyclists and families.

A local boat ride & organic garden visit

At midday you’ll meet at a small dock and board a private boat for a 30‑minute cruise . The river slowly widens as you drift past water‑coconut palms and floating houses. Your destination is a home on an island where our hosts are developing an organic herb and vegetable garden. Here you’ll:

  • Tour the garden and learn how local farmers cultivate basil, lemongrass, chili and leafy greens using sustainable methods. Farm‑to‑table tourism has become increasingly popular in Vietnam; visitors love harvesting herbs in gardens and cooking traditional meals with local families
  • Pick your own ingredients for lunch. Many travellers seek meaningful connections through food, and cooking with hosts provides a story and a connection that lasts long after the trip
  • Join a cooking demonstration in the host’s kitchen. Our hosts will show you how to prepare Mekong specialties like bánh xèo (savoury rice pancakes) or cá kho (braised fish) using produce you just picked.
  • Dine family‑style under coconut trees. The freshness of herbs and vegetables harvested minutes earlier elevates the meal and supports local farmers.

Sustainable & purposeful travel

At Mr Biker Saigon we believe that tourism should bring tangible benefits to the people who welcome us. Our long‑time friends Mr Ut and his family earn a living from their garden, but in recent years the low value of their crops and an unsustainable community tourism project left them in debt. We have always been impressed by their warmth and hospitality, and when they shared their struggles we knew we needed to do something.

By integrating their organic herb and vegetable garden into our tour, we create a win–win. You, our guests, gain a meaningful activity: you step into a farmer’s life, pick herbs with your own hands, learn to cook family recipes and share stories. At the same time, Mr Ut’s family benefits from additional income and valuable interactions with visitors, and the wider community gains a sustainable source of revenue. Your participation directly supports them, helps restore their garden and demonstrates how responsible tourism can uplift local livelihoods.
