MEKONG DELTA BIKE TOUR FOR FAMILIES

ITINERARY

Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City to Cai Be -Vinh Long – Ride 50 km – L/D

Since we aim to provide you with the most authentic experience possible, we begin with a quick 45-minute transfer from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh to My Tho, in the heart of the Mekong Delta.  We start pedaling on paved rural roads through exotic fruit orchards such as star apple and sapodilla plantations.  Further south along concrete canal paths, the vegetation grows denser and the streams merge into the larger branches of the Mekong River. 

Rest stops are a visit to a busy local Vietnamese market as well as many other surprises along the way!  

Lunch will be served by a lovely family in a village with ingredients bought from the nearby marketplace. Afterward, we board a private boat to An Binh Island where we have the afternoon free to walk around or relax by the home stay with a river view.

Day 2 - Cai Be - Vinh Long to Can Tho - Ride 50km – B/L

After a healthy breakfast, we begin a special day, part on the river and part on the bike. 

First a boat exploration of the canal system of the Mekong that was once a super highway during the Vietnam War. 

Next, we pedal into what for many in our cycling family is the most magic landscape of their Southeast Asian adventures. 

Far from any tourists, we cycle into one of the untouched and authentic areas of Vietnam where local traditions still take priority in the daily lives of its residents. You will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, alone with your bike, transported to another era when the world seemed simpler. As cyclists, we are blessed to be able to respectfully observe and participate in their daily life among the electric green rice fields and towering coconut trees. We will also have the unique opportunity to explore the ancient history, culture, and architecture of the Khmer people, one of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups. Throughout the day, we will see temples and relics dotting the horizon. 

Arriving at our lunch destination, we will welcome a respite from the sun with a locally- sourced meal prepared by a local family in Tieu Can Town who will share their rich history.  After lunch, we will transfer 1 hour in a comfortable A/C equipped vehicle to a hotel in Can Tho. Be sure not to miss out on its rooftop views from restaurants in the city center!

Day 3 - Can Tho Floating Market and return to HCM - Ride 30km – B/L

After an early breakfast, more adventure awaits!  Departing Can Tho, we will take an hour boat ride to explore the famous Cai Rang floating market. The floating market is a very colorful and lively place. You will be amazed to see how many small boats are anchored and the number of products sold.   

After visiting the market you will hop on to the bikes and head off along the river. 

The paved but isolated country roads host great views of more of the region’s colorful fruit orchards, often overhanging the paths.  

Your Mekong adventure will come to an end at lunchtime and after a well-deserved lunch, you will transfer back to Saigon about 3hrs drive.

BOOKING PAYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• For a single-day trip, full payment upon confirmation.

• For multi-day trips: Deposit of 50% of total payment is made upon confirmation date /or 14 days before the starting date of the trip.

• The remainder of balance is due 07 days before the starting date of the trip for multi-day trips.

CANCELLATION POLICY 

• 20% of total invoiced payment is charged if the cancellation is made from 10 to 05 days before the scheduled date of departure for the booked itinerary.

• 45% of total invoiced payment is charged if the cancellation is made from 04 to 02 days before the scheduled date of departure for the booked itinerary.

• 75% of total invoiced payment is charged if the cancellation is made 01 day before the scheduled date of departure for the booked itinerary.

• 100% of total invoiced payment is charged if the cancellation is made on DAY 01 or in case of NO SHOW.

• Domestic flight tickets are non-refundable. 

Things to think about:

Even though we provide modern bikes and safety gear, we understand that sometimes customers wish to have their own personal items. We would suggest customers bring their own helmet and cycling gloves for comfort. Regardless of if you are using one of our high-quality bikes or your own, we recommend taking advantage of a personal bike fitting session available 48 hours before the onset of the expedition. All bikes will be labelled with the rider's name so that you have the same bike each day and ensure the safety of your journey.

Transportation arrangements:

Whenever possible, we will cycle completely from the day's outset to the final destination with limited transfers. Our core belief is that cycling is an act of empowerment for both the rider and the community and we strive to provide the most meaningful and immersive cycling experience for our guests. However, as noted in certain itineraries, we will occasionally use our comfortable and modern 16-seater minivan to transport guests safely to either the beginning or end of the day's route.

Also, taking into account your safety, this transport shuttle acts as a support vehicle to provide care for unforeseen emergencies. Riders who wish to take a break from the bicycle after our designated lunch stop will have the opportunity to be transported in our support vehicle to our final destination for the day. We know that occasionally a journey is more difficult than it appears and we are happy to work with each individual group to tailor our programs to your group's needs.

Food and Dietary Requirements:

We, at Mr Biker Saigon, believe in supporting locally-owned, eco-friendly and sustainable businesses to provide a unique and memorable excursion for your group, for this reason, we partner with local restaurants and community members in order to ensure that you have delicious, locally-sourced and unique food experiences on our journey together.

As always, we are happy to provide support for riders with specific food allergies and dietary requirements by providing vegan and vegetarian options. If your group has specific nutrition requirements please let us know when booking, so we can make sure we have the opportunity to meet your needs.

Liability and Personal Health Insurance:

Mr Biker Saigon does not provide personal liability insurance to the guests on the trip. We recommend that each rider has the relevant Personal Health Insurance for travelling in Asia and coverage of activities such as cycling.

As we generally cycle in remote and seldom-visited areas of Vietnam, immediate access to critical care infrastructure such as ambulances is often not available. To ensure your safety, we provide a support vehicle for our excursions. Your safety comes first to us and we plan ahead to make sure that you have everything you need to cycle at your best.
