DAY 1: HO CHI MINH CITY - TIEN GIANG - BEN TRECycling distance: 40-60km
Accommodation: Ut Trinh Homestay Ben Tre
7:30 am - Leave Saigon and van transfer to a cafe where riders have a bike fitting before setting off.
The first segment of the day’s journey features lightly trafficked, mostly paved country roads, protected from the sun by attentive lines of coconut trees. After 15 km, we’ll arrive at a ferry crossing the Mekong River.
Crossing the river brings you to the maze of Mekong village back roads. You will cycle through rice paddy fields, dragon fruit orchards, flower farm. The colours, the smells, and landscapes of this area is very amazing.
While the next segment’s cycling is relaxed and non-technical, we do offer a shuttle to our finishing
destination in lieu of continuing to ride. Our transport vehicle and private shuttle will be standing by
to ensure that these riders have the support they need to thoroughly enjoy their day.
After the ride, we transfer to a traditonal Mekong-styled house homestay where you will stay for the night and experience the night of the Mekong. The architecture and the way of life here is reserved to their best conditions. After a refreshing shower, an authentic dinner, prepared with seasonal local specialities, will be awaiting to fill you up
DAY 2: BEN TRE - HO CHI MINH CITYCycling distance: 40- 60 km
After breakfast, we will take a short boat trip to Coconut island. The cycle tracks today on the first 40 kms of the journey are unique gravel and concrete trails through coconut plantations and lemon grass fields. We will pass through charming Mekong Delta villages and cycle past traditional delta style homes that have been used as communal family residences for generations.
We will take a ferry to the Mekong River’s estuary and cycle 10 km along the muddy beach where the locals farm clams before arriving at a seaside restaurant. Finally, riders will get a 2 hour van transfer back to Saigon.
