MEKONG DELTA "EYE-POPPING" BIKE TOUR

Day 1 - HCM - Cai Be - Vinh Long – Ride 50km - L/D

You will be picked up from your hotel at 7:30 am and transferred 75 minutes by bus to the Mekong city of My Tho. Founded in 1680, My Tho City has remained an important regional city due to its historical and cultural site, and prime river and agricultural location. 

After your transfer, you will have time to enjoy a light breakfast and refreshments, while the Mr. Biker staff ensures your bikes are all adjusted for your comfort on the ride. To start your ride the guide will lead you through the winding fruit farms in the area. These include exotic fruits such as star apple, sapodilla, and mangos, if you keep an eye out, you might even have the opportunity to buy the fruit fresh from farm stalls.

As you ride on down the concrete canal paths, the vegetation becomes denser and the smaller tributaries merge into larger branches of the Mekong River. As a rest stop, you will be able to visit a local Vietnamese market selling locally grown produce.  

After a traditional local lunch in a village restaurant, you will go by boat to your home for the night, An Binh Island. On the island, you will have an afternoon free to walk around and explore this charming garden island at your leisure. With beautiful river views, the Island homestay is the perfect place to relax after a day of exploration and adventure.

Day 2 - Vinh Long - Tra Vinh – Ride 45km - B/L/D

After breakfast, at 8 am we will take a short boat trip to meet our driver for a one-hour transfer to the Mekong coconut town, Ben Tre. Ben Tre is famous for its coconut candy workshops, where you may be able to see the production of the candy and buy the tasty Mekong treat. 

Today's route will take you past colorful riverside scenes, where you will be able to watch day-to-day Mekong life. Riding through typical Mekong villages, you will pass many charming houses and smiling faces. At the end of this segment, you will board a ferry and cross the wide Co Chien River. The Co Chien river runs for 82 km, through several Mekong provinces, while on the ferry you will be able to sit back, relax and enjoy the refreshing river breeze.

A delicious Mekong-style lunch will be served at a local restaurant before cycling through a peaceful and beautiful water coconut plantation. At the end of the day's ride, you will arrive at a ferry crossing. The ferry crosses over one of the main branches of the Mekong River, to Tra Vinh town. Tra Vinh is famed for its many Khmer temples, this is due to the large population of Khmer Krom people, in the town. In Tra Vinh, you will be able to freshen up and spend the evening enjoying the local nightlife and local delicacies.

Day 3 -  Tra Vinh - Can Tho – Ride 50km - B/L

The ride will depart the hotel at 7:30 am, for an exploration of the rich history, culture, and architecture of the Khmer people, one of Vietnam’s 54 Ethnic Minority groups. 

After your cultural exploration, you will ride down small country lanes, past villages, and small farms. After lunch in the rural Cau Ke district, you will take a short transfer to your accommodation in Can Tho. Can Tho, known as ‘the western capital’ of Vietnam, is world famous for its night markets, floating markets, rice paper production, and temples. The city is right at the heart of the Mekong Delta, an area known as the ‘rice basket of Vietnam’, which produces more than half of Vietnam's rice.

Day 4 - Can Tho - Return to HCM – Ride 30km - B/L

After an early breakfast, more adventure awaits!  Departing Can Tho, we will take an hour boat ride to explore the famous Cai Rang floating market. The floating market is a very colorful and lively place. You will be amazed to see how many small boats are anchored and the number of products sold.   

After visiting the market you will hop on to the bikes and head off along the river. 

The paved but isolated country roads host great views of more of the region’s colorful fruit orchards, often overhanging the paths.  

Your Mekong adventure will come to an end at lunchtime and after a well-deserved lunch, you will transfer back to Saigon about 3hrs drive.

BOOKING PAYMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• For a single-day trip, full payment upon confirmation.

• For multi-day trips: Deposit of 50% of total payment is made upon confirmation date /or 14 days before the starting date of the trip.

• The remainder of balance is due 07 days before the starting date of the trip for multi-day trips.

CANCELLATION POLICY 

• 20% of total invoiced payment is charged if the cancellation is made from 10 to 05 days before the scheduled date of departure for the booked itinerary.

• 45% of total invoiced payment is charged if the cancellation is made from 04 to 02 days before the scheduled date of departure for the booked itinerary.

• 75% of total invoiced payment is charged if the cancellation is made 01 day before the scheduled date of departure for the booked itinerary.

• 100% of total invoiced payment is charged if the cancellation is made on DAY 01 or in case of NO SHOW.

• Domestic flight tickets are non-refundable. 

Things to think about:

Even though we provide modern bikes and safety gear, we understand that sometimes customers wish to have their own personal items. We would suggest customers bring their own helmet and cycling gloves for comfort. Regardless of if you are using one of our high-quality bikes or your own, we recommend taking advantage of a personal bike fitting session available 48 hours before the onset of the expedition. All bikes will be labeled with the rider's name so that you have the same bike each day and ensure the safety of your journey.

Transportation arrangements:

Whenever possible, we will cycle completely from the day's outset to the final destination with limited transfers. Our core belief is that cycling is an act of empowerment for both the rider and the community and we strive to provide the most meaningful and immersive cycling experience for our guests. However, as noted in certain itineraries, we will occasionally use our comfortable and modern 16-seater minivan to transport guests safely to either the beginning or end of the day's route.

Also, taking into account your safety, this transport shuttle acts as a support vehicle to provide care for unforeseen emergencies. Riders who wish to take a break from the bicycle after our designated lunch stop will have the opportunity to be transported in our support vehicle to our final destination for the day. We know that occasionally a journey is more difficult than it appears and we are happy to work with each individual group to tailor our programs to your group's needs.

Food and Dietary Requirements:

We, at Mr Biker Saigon, believe in supporting locally-owned, eco-friendly and sustainable businesses to provide a unique and memorable excursion for your group, for this reason, we partner with local restaurants and community members in order to ensure that you have delicious, locally-sourced and unique food experiences on our journey together.

As always, we are happy to provide support for riders with specific food allergies and dietary requirements by providing vegan and vegetarian options. If your group has specific nutrition requirements please let us know when booking, so we can make sure we have the opportunity to meet your needs.

Liability and Personal Health Insurance:

Mr Biker Saigon does not provide personal liability insurance to the guests on the trip. We recommend that each rider has the relevant Personal Health Insurance for travelling in Asia and coverage of activities such as cycling.

As we generally cycle in remote and seldom-visited areas of Vietnam, immediate access to critical care infrastructure such as ambulances is often not available. To ensure your safety, we provide a support vehicle for our excursions. Your safety comes first to us and we plan ahead to make sure that you have everything you need to cycle at your best.
