Day 1 – Arrival (Ho Chi Minh City - Saigon) - no cycling - Dinner (D) provided
Airport transfer upon request. On your first day in Ho Chi Minh City, also known as Saigon, you will meet the Mr. Biker team of guides, mechanics, and drivers who will support you throughout your exciting adventure from Saigon to Hanoi. At this point, you will also receive a bike fitting before meeting up for the tour briefing and the welcome dinner in the evening.
Day 2 –Saigon - Da Lat - 30km cycling - Breakfast (B)/Lunch (L)/ Dinner (D)
We will take an early flight to Da Lat located in the Central part of Vietnam (approx. 1 hour).
After arrival and check-in at your hotel, you will take a relaxing ride along the lakeshore roads in the shadow of Mount Langbian discovering the region’s distinctive European influences, mountain scenery, and temperate climate. In the evening, you will have the chance to explore Da Lat free to try its local delicacies at the night market.
Day 3 - Da Lat - Hon Giao Pass - Nha Trang - 100km cycling - B/L/D
After breakfast, you will transfer to Bi Doup Mountain outside of Dalat. You will start cycling past the green scenery.
The climb is a challenge, but it is absolutely worth it as you are then rewarded with a 30km descent with unforgettable views of the mountains, forests, waterfalls, and villages below. After a well-deserved lunch, we will follow the flat roads towards the coast finishing the day with a transfer to Nha Trang (approx. 1 hour) where you will be able to rest your legs.
Day 4 - Nha Trang - Phu Yen - 80km cycling - B/L/D
In the morning, you will start from the hotel cycling to the Po Nagar Cham Towers built in AD 781 to honor the goddess Yan Po Nagar, (known as Thiên Y Thánh Mâu in Vietnamese). The site erected during the 10-century reign of the Cham Kingdom in Vietnam is reminiscent of Angkor Wat in Cambodia. After the visit, you will ride towards Vietnam’s Highway No. 1 where we will transfer
(approx. 80 km) to the Hon Gom peninsula. For the second part of the day, you will cycle along the peninsula past the shrimp farms, largest rice paddies of central Vietnam to Phu Yen.
Day 5 - Phu Yen - Quy Nhon - 65km cycling - B/L/D
After breakfast, we will cycle from the hotel to start the day’s cycle (65km) along the coast to Quy Nhon, the capital city of the province. Throughout the day, you will see the province’s main economic activity: fishing. In particular, you will get a chance to see the unusual conical (round) fishing boats as you enter Quy Nhon where you will spend the night.
Day 6 - free and easy in Quy Nhon beach - no cycling (B)
A rest day: allowing you to kick back and relax on the beach. Breakfast is provided at your hotel
Day 7- Quy Nhon - Quang Ngai - 80km cycling - B/L/D
After breakfast, you will transfer outside of the city avoiding its busy traffic. Day 7 will be a 80km ride offering a view of coastlines as well as the local countryside. You will be able to observe the local shrimp and salt farms and meet friendly farmers along the way. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will take a scenic drive (transfer) to your hotel in Quang Ngai.
Day 8 - Quang Ngai - My Son massacre - Hoi An - 60km cycling - B/L/D
Starting in the morning, the first stop will be at My Lai for a guided tour of the historical site where one of the most shocking episodes of the Vietnam War took place when hundreds of civilians were massacred. Continuing with the journey, you will cycle along quiet village roads past rice paddies, and through small unspoilt fishing villages filled with colorful boats. After lunch, you will transfer to Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its preserved architecture from its time as a trading port (15th-19th centuries). In addition to its unique atmosphere and distinctive buildings, today Hoi An is famous for its colorful lanterns illuminating the Old Town at night. The evening will be yours to start to explore this amazing town. Dinner on your own.
Day 9 - Rest day in Hoi An – no cycling- B /L/D
A rest day allowing to relax and see more of Hoi An at your own pace - enjoy the history, the local markets, or simply take it easy on the beach. Do not hesitate to ask your guide for recommendations for things to do, and places to eat.
Day 10 - Hoi An - Hai Van Pass - Hue - 100km cycling - B/L/D
Day 10 will be challenging, but the most rewarding day of the entire trip. The day will start with a short transfer out of the town before a ride along the coast to Da Nang before starting the climb to the renowned Hai Van Pass. The road climbs gradually up to 480 meters with many switchbacks and offers stunning views of the countryside overlooking the South China Sea. This tough climb is followed by a long smooth descent to your reward: lunch. In the afternoon, our team will take you the remaining 44km to Hue, the ancient capital of the Nguyen Dynasty, Vietnam’s last emperors.
Day 11 - Hue - Hanoi - 30km cycling - B/L/D
You will learn about Hue’s history cycling around its not to be missed sites: Vong Canh hill offering stunning panoramic views of the Huong (Perfume) River, and the tombs of Khai Dinh (the 12th Emperor of the Nguyen dynasty). Of course, we will also visit the seven-story Thien Mu Pagoda, the most important religious building in Vietnam and the symbol of the Hue. To finish the day, you will enjoy a relaxing cruise on the Perfume River back to Hue before catching a short flight to HaNoi (approx. 1 hour).
On arrival Hanoi, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel in the center of Hanoi. Explore Hanoi by yourself.
Day 12 - Ha Noi - Mai Chau village - 60km cycling/elevation 1000m - B/L/D
The day will begin with a 7 am transfer (approx. 2.5 hours) past spectacular scenery on our way to our starting point southwest of Ha Noi. On arrival, we will start a 30 km uphill ride to one of the most well-known panoramas at Hoa Binh lake, and stop for a picnic lunch. After lunch, you will encounter many more stunning views as we pass through ethnic Thai villages and across rice paddies on a mix of single-track paths and rough trails before returning to Poom Coong village where you will have dinner and spend the night at a homestay.
Day 13 - Mai Chau - Pu Luong Nature Reserve 60-70km, 1000-1200m elevation gain – B/L/D
Today's ride is one of our riding community’s most favorite in all of Vietnam with three challenging climbs with stunning vistas, super remote traditional villages and some of the most beautiful rice terraces in SE Asia. Following shaded paths beside mountain streams, we enter the Pu Luong Nature reserve and have a special traditional lunch overlooking the village’s rice terraces.
After a breather of 10 kms cycling through green fields and ethnic minority villages, we make one last short steep climb to our homestay where we can chill with a beer in the cool waters of their natural spring before a fantastic BBQ dinner outdoors.
Day 14 - Pu Luong - Ninh Binh 60km, 500m elevation gain – B/L/D
Today begins with a screaming downhill through the village’s steep rice terraces. Safely in the valley, we embark on a wonderfully scenic and remote x-country track for 15 Km. Fortress-like karst formations of Ninh Binh soon appear on the horizon and fascinating traditional villages beckon to admire their ingenious bamboo water wheel irrigation systems.
After an hour van transfer and a traditional lunch, we ride a collection of quiet country paths and canal roads towards the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ninh Binh.
Day 15 - Ninh Binh - Ha Noi – B/L/Farewell Dinner
25km, 0m elevation gain, boat tour
And more you shall have! Today after a hearty breakfast, we casually ride through the stunning natural beauty and historic sites of Ninh Binh stopping often for stories and photos. We trade in our bikes for boats, where we will be paddled by a local guide for a 3 hours tour through pitch black river caves, hidden lagoons and deeper into Vietnam’s history.
After lunch, we transfer to Ha Noi arriving before 6 pm. Checking your hotel in central Hanoi at dress-up for our farewell dinner!
Day 16 - Ha Noi - Departure - B/L/D
Breakfast is provided, but you will have a chance to make new culinary, and cultural discoveries on your own for Ha Noi the capital city or take a city tour with a local guide. If you need to extend your holiday (e.g. to visit Ha Long Bay), we are happy to assist.
